What is the best set of gaming headphones with 5.1 surround sound?
ByLooking for something around $50-$80.
I know what 5.1 is. There are headphones out there that have multiple speakers in each ear.
the Tritton AX360 surround sound headphones but, there are about 100 bucks

Headphones with 5.1 surround sound? That’s impossible mate. Headphones have 2 speakers not 5 + a subwoofer.

Sam is correct. 5.1 means 5 speakers and a subwoofer. You probably mean positional audio, but that’s really more like 4.0 sound. However, headphones with positional audio tend to suck in audio quality. So you have to make a decision to what is more important to you: sound quality, or positional audio. Most people pick sound quality and just get a good set of stereo headphones.

Headphones will always be headphones. They only draw limited power from the headphone jack. You can emulate the effect of 5.1 surround from any decent headphones with nice bass response and some additional software.
For DVD playback, try installing the AC3codec, part of k-lite codec pack.
