I have been using my Sony earbuds (Listed on package as "MDR-AS40EX") for a while, and I loved the great sound and slight background noise reduction.

Then a little while ago, they suddenly got quieter. I never dropped them or caused any damage to them, but they got very quiet. On my Zune if I play a loud song on volume 20 (The max level) it is still medium sounding.

The sound is clear as it always was and everything is fine, but why did they get so quiet and can I fix this problem? These cost a bit to buy and the sound is fine so I just wonder how I can make them louder again.

Maybe you broke them by putting it to loud
