what is the difrence between 1st gen ipod’s and second gen?

By admin

can anyone tell me the difrence in the first gen ipod and the second gen ipod, i think i may have the first gen im not sure they look alike, mine is white, slim, and is 2 g, i just bought these cordless headphones for the second gen but mine doesnt fit in the headphones? anyway i ended up buying a second gen ipod just curious to what the diffrence is between the two. thanks

Wow I don’t think anyone that answered this question was right.

Anyways

The TRUE first generation iPod had ONLY a FireWire interface and was only compatible with Mac’s. It has a greyscale screen and a rotary dial rather than the touch dials that the iPods use today. They had little storage, about 4 GB I think, and cost about $300. They were very very very rare. The TRUE second generation iPod, the first iPod I had, also had a greyscale screen. It didn’t have a rotary wheel and lost the FireWire port in favor of the dock. It had a row of four touch sensitive red led backlit buttons, back, menu, play/pause, forward, and had a touch sensitive wheel and touch sensitive center button.

Those are the differences between the real 1st generation and 2nd generation iPods.

Now if you’re talking about the iPod nano, that’s a different story.

1st gen are really large and bulky and they kind of remind me of old nintendo video games back in the 80s. New ipods are slim and have better screen quality.

1st generation comes in either white or black and. 2nd generation doubles the memory and comes in different colors

The 2nd generation ones are more square-like, skinnier, and have video features. the 1st gen ones are the taller, slightly thicker ones (but still small).

what type? nano?

first gen only comes in black or white. u can have a 1gb one or a 2gb one. the second gen comes in green, blue, hot pink, silver, red and black. they come in 2gb or 4gb. for the 2b one for second gen it only comes in silver.

first gen is more squared and h a mirror on the back (gets scratched more easily), second gen less squared and is a bit thinner.
personally i like the first generation one. i had a white second gb one. BUT SOME POOR FAG STOLE IT. now i have a fugly silver second gen 2gb one. I MISS MY OLD IPOD! :(

You need to specify what kind of iPod it is (Classic, Mini, etc)

Anyways, you can look it up yourself here:

tells all the differences between the generations and types.
