What can I do to get wireless headphones to work on my tv?
Posted by: | CommentsMy daughter wanted wireless headphones to listen to her tv without creating noise for the rest of the family. I bought her some, but there are no audio output jacks (only input) or headphone jacks on my tvs. How can I solve the problem without buying a special tv?
How is the television signal transmitted to the TV? There may be audio outputs on your cable box, DVR, DVD, etc., that you can use, and just mute the TV. If you are pulling a signal directly from a cable (with no converter) and your TV truly has no outputs, you may need a new TV, but you certainly don’t need a ’special’ TV — every TV I’ve owned in the last 15 years has had audio outputs.
Have you had a good experience with wireless headphones for TV etc?
Posted by: | CommentsWhat brand and/or model would you recommend? Any other suggestions? Thanks!
Yeah, my experience was pretty good. We needed wireless headphones so that I could watch TV while my wife was trying to sleep, and vice-versa. I found some on sale at our local supermarket — I think they cost about 25 bucks. Sorry I don’t know the brand offhand, but I’m sure it’s not a well known company. If you would like, I can look it up when I get home.
Anyhow, the headphones did the job just fine. I probably wouldn’t use them to listen to an opera, but for watching old movies, they’re more than adequate. If I want to go out for a sandwich, I can keep the headphones on, and I continue to hear the sound in the next room. They were easy to install and set up.
My one quibble is that both the headphones and the transmitter require batteries. That seems wasteful to me. I don’t know why the transmitter can’t run on A/C, and maybe with some brands it does.
Also, when you flick a switch on the headphones, you receive FM radio transmission. I’ve rarely used them for that purpose, though.
You’ll probably need this….

so you can connect it to the AUDIO outputs on your TV set. If your TV has a Fixed /Variable Audio output, set it to FIXED output.
I purchased some wireless headphones but when you plug them in it cuts off the tv sound. I want to get sound from both the tv and the headphones so that my wife can watch the same programme without having the volume too loud.
You need to get an RCA to 3.5mm adapter and connect to the audio output on the TV, if it has one.
what are good wireless tv headphones?
Posted by: | Commentsso i am looking to buy a pair of headphones that are wireless and will plug into my tv…. I would mostly use them for playing xbox and obviously watching tv..
bluetooth or fm transmitting headphone are best in my opition. Bluetooth ones work on, well, you know, blue tooth technology and most of them give you about 33ft range. the perk? you could use them on your phone or anything else. a lot of them come with a 3.5mm headphone jack transmitter that you just plug into the headphone jack of anything whether its a tv or cd player.
fm transmitting wireless headsets work on fm frequency like your radio. so the base unit which plugs in via an 3.5mm auxiliary cable or red/white rca connection will scan for a open channel and transmit that way. usually about 100ft range, lots of ppl like to sit outside and listen to music from their music system.
both can run about 75-120 avg for a pair in most big box retailers, most common ones are jvc and the iluv/ihome (fm on jvc, i*** for bt) from what ive seen. the fm ones will be pretty huge compared to the Bluetooth. side not though, i have seen some sylvania ones, fm transmitting with built in fm radio go for about 20 bucks. their cheap, but haven’t heard complaints.
the third out there which i dont like are infared. you have to have line of site, so don’t plan on leaving the room with them.
Problem with Wireless headphones for TV?
Posted by: | CommentsI have a set of RCA wireless headphones (model WHP141) for listening to my HD television. The problem is when I plug the headset into the audio output on the TV, the sound from the TV speakers shuts off and then my wife cannot hear the TV. Is there something I can do to enable both the headset and the TV speakers so we both can hear the TV?
Apparently you are plugging the headphone base into the earphone/headphone jack on the tv set. Doing this causes the audio that goes to the tv speakers to cut off. Does your tv set also have audio outputs (red and white rca jacks)? If so plug the base there instead. That should allow audio from your tv speakers as well as the headphones.
Which wireless tv headphone is better: the RF or the Infared?
Posted by: | CommentsI’m shopping for wireless headphones for tv. I can’t decide which one is a better choice: the Radio Frequency or the Infared.
RF headphones have better range and can compensate for interference much better than infrared headphones. RF headphones like the Sennheiser RS 140 has a wireless balancing system to get a high quality sound. In fact, I would recommend only Sennheiser headphones. They are high quality and low price which sounds like an oxymoron but it is true.
Check the Sennheiser RS 140 specs here:

Is it possible to filter ‘noise’ when using wireless headphones on your TV?

It depends upon the nature of the noise. If you’re talking about hiss, try switching from mono to stereo.
How do you hook Jensen Wireless Headphones in through your TV?
Posted by: | CommentsMy headphones are older. They are 900 mhz, model: doc/mdc 1682 k965. I lost my directions, I would have assumed hooking the jacks into the audio and then dialing them in would do the trick, however, Ive got nothing. Can anyone help me??? Do you have the manual. I would say they are 8 to 9 years old.
Be sure you’re connecting the speakers to the TV’s audio out… if the red and white jacks are next to a yellow one for video, that’s probably an input.
Also, check the TV’s control panel… it might have a setting to choose between the speakers and the audio output.
