Sealed Headphones?

Posted by: admin | Comments (2)

I’m currently living with a roommate who likes to play her music rather loud while I would like to listen to mine at a lower level on headphones…

I’m looking for a decent pair of sealed headphones. Sealed. Not opened on any side. Not just sealed backs. And not ear buds.

If someone could clue me in as to what are good headphones to get for noise reduction (again, I want sealed headphones) and good sound quality, that would be great.

My price range is $150 or lower. A little more would be alright, but I’m not willing to go over $170 or so. I’d prefer a great sound quality… But I’d settle for a good sound quality. The headphones have to be able to plug into a Toshiba laptop and possibly an iPod or CD player. They must also be sealed headphones.

If someone could help me, that would be great.

Try a pair of Sennheisers, I think you’ll like ‘em.

Hi, my ears are extremely sensitive. I recently moved to an area where there is lots of traffic… noise… etc. I hate wearing those huge headphones that look like construction worker wear. I am a lady in business.. and it looks awkward traveling around in a suit with HUGE headphones on my ears. Can anyone recommend or link me to some ear piece that cancels noise or has noise reduction? something that wont make me stand out in a crowd? Please help its very important!

Depending on how much you want to spend, many companies make high-end noise-attenuating headphones that don’t stand out. The most famous are the Etymotic Research Er-6i Isolators. They isolate a claimed 35db (think airplane engine becoming whisper-quiet) and are very small and comfortable. If you want to spend a bit more there’s also the jays q-jays that are even smaller. Aftermarket eartips can helps as well (run a search for Shure Olives - they fit on the Etymotic ER6i’s and make them even more quiet).

Need advice on headphones.?

Posted by: admin | Comments (1)

I need a pair of noise canceling headphones. Its okay if they’re dj style. My after school hangout has loud customers but free wifi and I room with 2 roommates so I’d be using them as noise mufflers half the time. In ear or over ear, as long as they are excellent in performance, comfort and noise reduction (looks help too.) > or around $200. Any recs?

Sony makes fairly decent headphones. I own an in-ear Bose Triport headphone, its not noise-canceling but the sounds quality is superb and if you turn the bass up it can drown out any outside noise. It’s like having a mini 2.1 speaker set in your ears. Or get the bose quietcomforts that are over-ear headphones and do have noise-cancelation.

Yeah, I happen to know that one is around-ear and one is on-ear.

The on-ear costs 179 and the around-ear cost 139. What I’m wondering is why this is the case; they both should have the same sound quality, right? At any rate, shouldn’t the on-ear headphones cost less?

I’m planning to buy one or the other. I just dont get the price difference; is the expensive one better as in sound quality?

Also, they seem to both have some kind of noise reduction. However, Bose doesn’t list them as Noise cancelling headphones. So, do they or do they not have noise cancelling (If not, at least noise reduction? they reduce more noise than my Sennheisers)

For Bose haters, recommend me some other 200 dollar headphones? Perferrably excellent noise quality and noise cancelling? I’m just buying these because I don’t know any other good ones. :)

cheers!

I have been a fan of Bose products since 1991. Bose on the ear design is new. That is why they cost so much. The bose over the earcup design has been around since the early 2000s and that is why it is cheaper. They both sound the same with sound quality. However I would go with the on ear design because it is built a little bit more sturdy than the over the earcup design. I had over the earcup design and they broke easily. If you want the ones that seem to cancel out noise then go with the over the ear cup design.

I have both the Quiet Comfort 2 and 3 models. They are on the ear and over the ear too. One was 350 and one was 300. The both work great but I like the new QC3 model. It is new, compact and works great.
