Not all children have a problem with the pressure changes in their ears.

Depending on the age of your child, here are a few things you can do in case your child does have problems:

For take-offs and landings (the WHOLE way up, and starting from the BEGINNING, or TOP of descent -about an hour before landing), the best ways to alleviate ear pressure are to:

8If you child is nursing, nurse him/her
*Give him/her something to drink (formula, milk, water, juice - it doesn’t matter)
*Tell him/her to yawn
*Give him/her gum to chew
*Give him/her hard candy or mints to suck on
*Pinch his/her nostrils shut, have him/her take a deep breath in through the mouth, then tell him/her to (gently) blow as if trying to blow his/her nose
*Place hot damp towels (usually like the ones distributed to first and business class before take-off and landing to freshen up with - just ask a flight attendant for them) or paper towels that have been soaked in hot water and wrung out, at the bottom of two paper or styrofoam cups, then hold the cups over the ears
*Gently but with some pressure, rub his/her neck repeatedly from the chin to the base of the neck. This will cause a swallowing motion that will relieve pressure build-up in the ears.

I’ve been flying internationally & domestically with my children since they were each 2 months (now 8&6,&6 months). At least three trips a year are the children & I traveling internationally (14+ hours each way) alone. We do another 8-10 international and domestic flights a year as a family. I have never had any problems with my children.

I wrote a small article about flying with children that goes more in-depth, gives security rules & regulations for the US, EU, UK, & Australia, offers tips & tricks for the travel, etc. http://www.angelfire.com/jamiehassen79/flying_children.html

If I can be of any more help or assistance, please feel free to contact me.

Both earphones are probably a definite upgrade from my stock apple earphones…but does anyone own one of them or both?Which one is better? The Philips one is about a dollar more($23 on amazon),while the Sony one is $22.This would have been a clearcut win for Philips…but the Philips one needs a AAA battery for its in-line noise cancelling box.(which looks pretty bulky…and I dont really know what I would look having one of those hang from my chest).I’ve read the reviews for both but I need more opinions before I buy.Keep in mind i’ll be using it for my video ipod at school, doing hw,studying, and in bed.I care most about audio and bass quality(since my stock ones suck big time)more than noice cancelling(although I want slight reductions in noise too)

Sennheiser On-The-Ear Headphone, Collapsible, Active Noise-Canceling, Carrying Pouch - PXC250

The PXC 250 is a closed, dynamic supra-aural stereo headphone with NoiseGard active noise compensation. Active and passive attenuation of ambient noise allows the headphone to facilitate the enjoyment of music even in noisy environments. The noise reduction is focused more to the lower end of the aural spectrum reducing ambient noise by as much as 15dB for frequencies below 1kHz. The noise-canceling circuitry and a pair of AAA batteries are housed in a separate battery pack. The headphone will operate without the battery pack or with depleted batteries, but will do so without noise compensation. A new super-lightweight design with ergonomic head-pads for perfect fit allows the form of the PXC 250 to collapse and lock in both an open and folded position. A convenient belt pouch and a two-pronged adapter for in-flight movies are included.

Headphones with bass??

Posted by: admin | Comments (2)

Was trying to see if there are any headfones out there, hopefully not too expensive…willing to spend about $100….that have good bass…if thats possible.

I have a pair for my cell phone, but the jack…plug..thingy…is smaller than your standard one. So i can’t stick it into a computer or anything…..it has Ok bass effect, but i think its cuz the ear pieces actually go into my ear canal…

My friend let me borrow his bose headphones…..they had the best bass i’ve ever heard, but still somewhat weak.

You think thats the top of the line or is there anything better.

I figure bose’s claim is the noise reduction….which i would say is amazing………..just turnin on those headphones without music makes a huge difference…..but feel like thats where the money you spend goes to.

i usually only listen to hard dance or trance. Half the time the bass over powers the music and thats what i like.

So any help would be great.

Check out the Sony MDR-V700DJ Headphones.

I’ve got a pair of the MDR-V600 Studio Monitor Series and they’re great. The V700 series is supposed to have a a bit more lower bass extension. And the price ain’t bad, in fact it’s looks like they’ve come down about $20 compared to a couple of years ago.

Here is a link….

http://amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00001W0DH/ruggedelegance12728-20/ref=nosim

and here are the ones that I’ve got…..

PS : Do yourself and your wallet a favor, and stay away from Bose.
