What noise does the Bose Eliminate?

Posted by: admin | Comments (1)

For the first-time I purchased a Noise Canceling headphone, Bose QC 15 in this case. Having no prior experience with using these. I was just wondering for anyone who has these headphones, what sorta noise does these eliminate?

While I do notice some noise reduction, I don’t see what the hype is all about when people say it completely eliminates noise. I can still hear people talking in the background, I can still hear the TV or music playing in the background with the noise cancellation feature on. Just not as loud. I was hoping it would eliminate the sounds completely.

Am I expecting too much? Just making sure I didn’t purchase a defective product.

You are expecting too much.

They work better for constant background noise , say the engines in an airplane, or traffic.
Then simply subtract it. Non white noise, like people talking is much harder to detect and remove.

i prefer the close or noise reduction headphone..

Philips SHL9500 is the only decent-sounding closed phone that sounds nearly as good as the KSC75s for a similar price. The Soundmagic P10 isn’t bad either but a bit more pricy. If you can find a cheap JVC HA-S700 on ebay that would be ideal but they pop up quite rarely. They isolate a lot though and they sound quite good.

Not sure which to choose from. Both have excellent reviews. However I will be using these at home constantly and am looking for comfort too (which someone mentioned was poor after 40 minutes of wearing the Skullcandy GI’s). However, the Goldring headphones are reduced from £160 to £50 (yet the GI’s can be found at a discounted price of just under £35).

(This is in the "hunting" category because I’m looking at products used at shooting ranges)

THE SITUATION: I’m a college student living in a dorm on an urban campus. In addition to dealing with the noises typical of living in a dorm and living in a busy downtown area, there is construction work going on about 50 yards from my window from early morning into the late evening. It is so loud that I can’t talk on the phone in my room, because people on the other line think that I am actually at the construction site due to all the noise. As you can imagine, this amount of noise makes studying nearly impossible. I wear earplugs while sleeping, and by the time I wake up my ears ache too much to continue to wear them throughout the day.

THE QUESTION: I’m looking for a good pair of noise-reduction earmuffs to block out some of the louder construction noise- preferably something with an adjustable headband that will be comfortable to wear for extended periods of time, that will reduce hearing by around 28 dB (no less than 25 dB).

ADDITIONAL DETAILS: I’ve looked at several products in the Peltor line so far- the "97010 Ultimate Hearing Protector", the H10A and the H9A. Do you have any experience with these? Do you think they would be what I am looking for?

Thanks in advance!

None of them is comfortable. There are in ear types and the muffs. The muffs that fit snug will cause fatigue in a hour or less and cause sweat inside. The ear plugs if fitted correctly will be the best and allow conversations. You can look at the different plugs from foam to soft rubber type at Cabela’s and Walmart and try the cheaper ones to see what fits. Everyone is different. I hate wearing them. I have had to wear them for years for a entire shift at work and in the military. All of them suck that I have found. A ear Doctor may have some that feel better. I would say the muffs are not a good choice.

Go with some good plugs.

Best In-Ear Headphones?

Posted by: admin | Comments (2)

I’m looking to spend no more than $50, around $75 max. What are the best headphones you’ve used in this price range? I do not want the Bose Triport $100 ear phones, because they are actually not noise-cancelling. It’s not even that it has poor sound reduction, but it’s not even made to be noise-cancelling. Sure, they may have good audio quality, and comfortable, but guess what, so are packaged headphones that you get with your MP3 player.

your wright about the bose , what are you using them for ? a ipod .. go to best buy buy a pair you like . if they dont sound good return them and try another .

what headphone suggestions do you have? i need earbuds WITHOUT and in-line and WITH noise-cancelling or some other sort of noise reduction stuff. my price range is up to $150. silicone earpieces are preferable b/c i have funky ears. PLEASE DO NOT SUGGEST THE IPOD HEADPHONES.

My recommendation: Get sony’s In-Ear bud headphones, the ones that cancel-out noise and stuff, it was featured on Dotto Tech. You could get it off of iTunes, I forgot the name. But GL and hope you find a good pair. Also, they cost about 90 bucks.

Why are my headphones suddenly quieter?

Posted by: admin | Comments (1)

I have been using my Sony earbuds (Listed on package as "MDR-AS40EX") for a while, and I loved the great sound and slight background noise reduction.

Then a little while ago, they suddenly got quieter. I never dropped them or caused any damage to them, but they got very quiet. On my Zune if I play a loud song on volume 20 (The max level) it is still medium sounding.

The sound is clear as it always was and everything is fine, but why did they get so quiet and can I fix this problem? These cost a bit to buy and the sound is fine so I just wonder how I can make them louder again.

Maybe you broke them by putting it to loud

I’m having trouble coming up with a present for my fiance. He wants a pair of really expensive headphones but we’ve decided they’re too pricey (Bose noise reduction - crazy!). Anyway, he’s a photographer (so he always needs strange bits and pieces that he can never find) and he’s quite handy so I was thinking maybe a really high end Swiss Army Knife? Is that a good present? If you have any other ideas, I’d love to hear them. He’s 32, sporty, loves art and culture, English, lives near the beach…

A Leatherman tool (that’s the name of it) is better than a Swiss Army knife. I bought one for a friend a couple of years ago and it cost about $70 — might be more now. It comes with a case that you can put on a belt. It has pliers, screwdrivers, and all sorts of crazy appendages! Gadget people will love it!
Remember you are getting married, so a small thoughtful gift is better. Save that extra money you’d normally spend on him towards your wedding or honeymoon.
