what are good wireless tv headphones?
Posted by: | Commentsso i am looking to buy a pair of headphones that are wireless and will plug into my tv…. I would mostly use them for playing xbox and obviously watching tv..
bluetooth or fm transmitting headphone are best in my opition. Bluetooth ones work on, well, you know, blue tooth technology and most of them give you about 33ft range. the perk? you could use them on your phone or anything else. a lot of them come with a 3.5mm headphone jack transmitter that you just plug into the headphone jack of anything whether its a tv or cd player.
fm transmitting wireless headsets work on fm frequency like your radio. so the base unit which plugs in via an 3.5mm auxiliary cable or red/white rca connection will scan for a open channel and transmit that way. usually about 100ft range, lots of ppl like to sit outside and listen to music from their music system.
both can run about 75-120 avg for a pair in most big box retailers, most common ones are jvc and the iluv/ihome (fm on jvc, i*** for bt) from what ive seen. the fm ones will be pretty huge compared to the Bluetooth. side not though, i have seen some sylvania ones, fm transmitting with built in fm radio go for about 20 bucks. their cheap, but haven’t heard complaints.
the third out there which i dont like are infared. you have to have line of site, so don’t plan on leaving the room with them.
Recommendations for noise-reduction earmuffs/headphones?
Posted by: | Comments(This is in the "hunting" category because I’m looking at products used at shooting ranges)
THE SITUATION: I’m a college student living in a dorm on an urban campus. In addition to dealing with the noises typical of living in a dorm and living in a busy downtown area, there is construction work going on about 50 yards from my window from early morning into the late evening. It is so loud that I can’t talk on the phone in my room, because people on the other line think that I am actually at the construction site due to all the noise. As you can imagine, this amount of noise makes studying nearly impossible. I wear earplugs while sleeping, and by the time I wake up my ears ache too much to continue to wear them throughout the day.
THE QUESTION: I’m looking for a good pair of noise-reduction earmuffs to block out some of the louder construction noise- preferably something with an adjustable headband that will be comfortable to wear for extended periods of time, that will reduce hearing by around 28 dB (no less than 25 dB).
ADDITIONAL DETAILS: I’ve looked at several products in the Peltor line so far- the "97010 Ultimate Hearing Protector", the H10A and the H9A. Do you have any experience with these? Do you think they would be what I am looking for?
Thanks in advance!
None of them is comfortable. There are in ear types and the muffs. The muffs that fit snug will cause fatigue in a hour or less and cause sweat inside. The ear plugs if fitted correctly will be the best and allow conversations. You can look at the different plugs from foam to soft rubber type at Cabela’s and Walmart and try the cheaper ones to see what fits. Everyone is different. I hate wearing them. I have had to wear them for years for a entire shift at work and in the military. All of them suck that I have found. A ear Doctor may have some that feel better. I would say the muffs are not a good choice.
Go with some good plugs.

Which surround sounds Headphones?
Posted by: | Commentsi am thinking of getting some fairly good quality headphones that i can use to play my xbox 360, i want a good quality sound that i can play loud without disturbing anyone else in the house… now i know headphones cannot be ture surround sound but there are headphones out there that have vertual surround sound. i am looking to spend about £80 but i could spend more if needed. Im not that bothered about them being wireless, and it was my thinking if they are wired then you are paying more for the sound quality rather than the wireless technology. So if anyone who knows about headphones, or has a pair of surroud sound headphones that they really love please help me out… cheers
These are Fab!!

Do noise cancelling headphones actually work?
Posted by: | CommentsWould they be able to block out someone snoring?
It depends what kind of noise cancelling headphones you get. If you get the passive ones, they won’t help you at all. You have to get active Noise cancelling headphones to block low frequency noises. The more expensive they are the better they work usually. Bose are the best but they are very expensive.
Which Headphones should I Buy?
Posted by: | CommentsI’m down to 3 options:
1) SkullCandy - http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddet…
2) JVC Headphones
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddet…
3) Panasonic
http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddet…
Which of the 3 should I buy, and why?
Whoops, my links don’t work. Let me see if I can find others.
JVC - http://av.jvc.com/product.jsp?modelId=MODL028223&pathId=110&page=1
Skullcandy - http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/smokinbuds-p-10.html
Panasonic - http://shopping.msn.com/prices/shp/?itemId=974888634
Hopefully, these work…
I’d suggest the JVC headphones. Why?
1. JVC quality is decent & consistently reliable…
2. I’d say I really find the noise canceling helps the sound quality & it’s comfortable.
It could just be psychological, but I think it makes for a better experience. Admittedly, I don’t have much experience with SkullCandy headphones. Panasonic = good, but JVC is a better buy when looking at the value:price ratio
You can get the JVC HA-FX66A earphones for about $24:

How do I transfer the computer sound to the headphones?
Posted by: | CommentsI thought you could just plug your headphones into the computer tower and the sound is transferred from the computer to your headphones. But it’s not working for me. How can I do this? Help?
Connecting the Headphones
1
Plug magnetically shielded headphones into the most convenient of four places: the headphone jack on externally powered speakers; the headphone jack on the CD-ROM drive’s drawer; the headphone, audio out, or speaker jack on the back of your computer; or the headphone or audio out jack on your computer monitor.
Controlling CD Volume and Track Order
1
See "How to Play Music CDs on the Computer" to learn how to customize play.
2
Adjust the volume with the controls on your CD drawer (if it has one) or your headphones (if they have one), in the Windows CD Player program, or in the Windows system.
3
To learn how to set Windows system volume, see "How to Change the Sound Volume on Your Computer."
Permanently Setting Up Your PC for Headphone Listening
1
Right-click on the speaker icon in the System Tray (the bottom right-hand corner of the screen on
2
Click Adjust Audio Properties.
3
Click Advanced Properties under Playback.
4
Click the down arrow under Speaker Setup.
5
Select Stereo Headphones.
I want to be able to walk around outside and talk hands free (with headphones and built in microphone) and talk on Skype and still have the capability to make phone calls without having to come back inside the house and dial with the computer.
Try the GE 28310EE1, it is a cordless skype phone and has a headset jack.
Problem with Wireless headphones for TV?
Posted by: | CommentsI have a set of RCA wireless headphones (model WHP141) for listening to my HD television. The problem is when I plug the headset into the audio output on the TV, the sound from the TV speakers shuts off and then my wife cannot hear the TV. Is there something I can do to enable both the headset and the TV speakers so we both can hear the TV?
Apparently you are plugging the headphone base into the earphone/headphone jack on the tv set. Doing this causes the audio that goes to the tv speakers to cut off. Does your tv set also have audio outputs (red and white rca jacks)? If so plug the base there instead. That should allow audio from your tv speakers as well as the headphones.
Best In-Ear Headphones?
Posted by: | CommentsI’m looking to spend no more than $50, around $75 max. What are the best headphones you’ve used in this price range? I do not want the Bose Triport $100 ear phones, because they are actually not noise-cancelling. It’s not even that it has poor sound reduction, but it’s not even made to be noise-cancelling. Sure, they may have good audio quality, and comfortable, but guess what, so are packaged headphones that you get with your MP3 player.
your wright about the bose , what are you using them for ? a ipod .. go to best buy buy a pair you like . if they dont sound good return them and try another .
how to connect headphones to DVD surround sound system?

Com’on Shannon. Tell us what you really think. lol
If you don’t have a headphone jack on the front of your system, you might have an "audio out" on the back. If you have neither, you can go to radio shack and get a "speaker level to line level" converter. Once you have it, it will be obvious how to hook it up, and this will work for sure. Use this third option only as a last resort.
Edit: Wow, Shannon deleted her rude and insensitive answer. Or maybe someone reported her. Either way, good riddens.
